If you thought the end of the biopic era was over, you were so wrong. We’ve seen the lives of great brit legends in movies, including Freddie Mercury and Elton John, and no it’s time to see the great Amy Winehouse‘s life unfold before our eyes.
Back to Black, referring to Winehouse’s hit song, was announced in 2018, and after almost six years we finally get to see the first images of the movie, including Marisa Abela characterized as Amy… A great casting choice if you ask us!
The movie, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, wants to give us an intimate and unknown version of Amy Winehouse’s story. From her early life to her rise to fame until the release of her disruptive album that gave its name to the biopic.
The movie, which is the very first biopic about Amy Winehouse, aims to tell the story from Amy’s perspective. It wants to tell a heartfelt story of a woman beyond the fame, the controversies, and the morbidity of her troubled life.
Although it’s not clear if the film will deal with the untimely and tragic passing of Amy Winehouse in 2011, it’s said that it will cover the trauma that the paparazzi caused in her life. The movie will also show us the tormented relationship of Amy and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, with whom she was married from 2007 to 2009.
A really endearing project that has the full support of Amy Winehouse’s estate and family. Back to Black is scheduled to be released this April, 12.
