Christopher Nolan could become the director of the next James Bond movie, the successful franchise of the most famous secret agent in history.
The news, although not yet confirmed, immediately aroused the hype of millions of fans, who are eager to see what the brilliant mind of the acclaimed filmmaker could do with the new version of Agent 007.
According to World of Reel, part of the agreement for Nolan to direct the new James Bond film includes creative freedom, almost total, a condition that would have been specially requested by the director.
If confirmed in the coming weeks, this news could be the most important revolution of the saga in recent years, something that could also represent a problem, since the 007 franchise is characterized by giving little flexibility to its directors.
What Does Christopher Nolan Want to Do with James Bond?
What has been revealed is that Christopher Nolan could be very close to signing a deal for two or even three James Bond films. That deal would specify that Nolan would play a major role from script creation to directing, so the filmmaker would have the freedom to have a say in character and plot construction.
However, according to speculation, the main change pushed by Nolan would be to adapt Ian Fleming’s novels in period settings that faithfully capture the author’s source material, something that EON Productions is not too keen on, as they are looking for a complete reboot.
Be that as it may, the reality is that we are excited to see Christopher in charge of the 007 agent’s story, and although we still can’t be sure, the idea doesn’t sound so far-fetched. If it comes true, the director would have the great challenge of surpassing his predecessor, Daniel Craig, who directed five of the Bond films, making each one a success.
