Ready for 2024’s ceremony? Most uncomfortable moments in golden globes

Welcome to the Golden Globes! One of the most important ceremony awards in the industry, in which you can see reunited the elite of Hollywood, applauding each other for their success over the year. But it does not end there, let me tell a little bit about the Golden Globes.

How Did Gloden Globes Begin?

The history remount to 1994 with a little ceremony celebrated at 20th Century Fox, by the Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association, the precursor of today’s Hollywood Foreign Press Association, where Jennifer Jones, known for her participation in films over the 40′ and 50′ decades, were awarded Best Actress honors for The Song of Bernadette. The following year, a contest to find the design of a statute was released, and the winner of that contest was Maria Cisterna, who presented the idea of a shiny globe on a cylindrical pedestal. In 1945, the first official gala event, with a formal banquet took place at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Today, the Golden Globes recognize achievements in 27 categories; 14 in motion pictures and 13 in television. Besides that, the awards also had many situations that could be considered critical, sarcastic, and political.

Moments the Gloden Globes Were Uncomfortable:

A good thing about being famous is your voice can be heard, everyone cares about what you have to say and probably a light is always on you (maybe is not always a good thing:/) but leaving behind the stressful stuff of being part of the elite, sometimes it can be useful to denounce against the system. Here are some proofs…

  • Natalie Portman Criticizes the Male Power in the Industry

We all should remember that ceremony when they were about to announce the winner of the Best Director category and Natalie Portman said: “And here, are all the male nominees” Of course everyone started to laugh cause, well, we all know how injust the industry can be when we talk about… well.. anything… cof, cof, gender roles.

Ironically, Natalie had been criticized because after that argument she hadn’t worked in any film directed by a woman… I don’t know if is her fault or if she’s just adjusting to the system she criticized. What do you think?

However, another moment that shouldn’t be forgotten is the iconic speech by Ricky Gervais, who not only made us laugh of the presents but also about critical topics like Epstein’s island, Felicity Huffman, and he even made a joke about the elite being afraid of Ronan Farrow. My story is not as funny as the actual speech so I leave it here for you to enjoy:

And let’s not forget about that speech by Jerrod Carmichael about being black and the reason he was there as host:

Let’s wait for Sunday, sure there will be many more uncomfortable moments with could think, laugh, and talk about 😉
