Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is going strong. A few days after its premiere, the animated movie of this arachnid superhero has been applauded by everyone, including renowned filmmakers like Guillermo del Toro.
An important detail is the huge amount of ‘spider-men’ in the film, since this is exactly what the story was looking for, to show the different realities of this iconic character. However, this has led fans to try to decipher how many ‘web-slingers’ appear in the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and to give you an idea, the three Spider-Man meme falls short; it is insignificant.

Just by watching the movie, it’s hard to know how many Spider-Man appear in Across the Spider-Verse, and that’s why directors Kemp Powers, Joaquim Dos Santos, and Justin Thompson, lent us a hand. Before the premiere, they advanced that there were around 280 characters, of which, only 95 had names. This happens because variations emerge from the ‘originals.’
“I think the last time I looked it was around 280. Just to be clear, that doesn’t mean specific, unique characters that you might recognize, it could also mean variations,” Thompson said in an interview with Collider.
What Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse About?
According to the official synopsis of the film, “It continues the story of Miles Morales, who is unexpectedly approached by his friend and love interest, Gwen Stacy, who tells him that she needs help to complete a mission to save every universe of the ‘Spidies,’ as a villain is stalking them that could cause a disaster in the multiverse.”
