The Grinch is, without fear of being wrong, one of the best Christmas movies that exist, not only because 23 years after its release it continues to make us laugh, no matter how many times we have seen it, but also because Jim Carrey gave us one of the best performances of his entire career. And more than two decades after its release, everything seems to indicate that after waiting more than two decades, we will soon be able to see a sequel to the film on the big screen, which undoubtedly fills us with excitement and joy.
However, the best part of all will be that Jim Carrey will return to play our favorite antihero, making ‘The Grinch 2‘ the film that would mark the artist’s return to acting. It should be noted that in April 2022, the actor announced his retirement from acting with the premiere of “Sonic 2”, which would be his last film. Although few details have been released about the film, it is most likely that in the new film, we will be able to find out what happened to several of the characters from the first installment and discover if Christmas will have to be saved again by the Grinch.
Jim Carrey was about to give up on ‘The Grinch’
With the news of the release of ‘The Grinch 2’, many fans have been skeptical about the return of Jim Carrey, especially because the actor has previously revealed that he does not believe in second parts, since in most cases the only lead carried out for commercial reasons. However, Carrey has participated in the sequels of ‘Ace Adventure’, ‘A Couple of Idiots’ and ‘Sonic 2’.

The commotion over the supposed announcement of the new ‘The Grinch’ movie has also reminded us that during the recording of the first film, Jim was close to giving up, because it took the makeup team eight hours to characterize him as the Grinch. Although the production managed to persuade him not to abandon filming, finishing the film was a real challenge for Jim, who in 100 days of filming, spent a total of 800 hours being characterized, although it was all worth it because the film was a real success at the box office.
