Once again Kim Kardashian shows that she is more than an internet celebrity. The American businesswoman and socialite will executive produce and host a three-episode documentary series about film legend Elizabeth Taylor, which is currently in the works and will air on the BBC, the UK’s public television network.
The docuseries, provisionally named Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar, will address, from an innovative perspective, the last days of one of the great legends of the golden age of Hollywood who contributed to the modern archetype of celebrity. The project is in charge of the production company Passion Pictures, winner of the Oscar in 2013 for Searching for Sugar Man and behind the documentary about Christopher Reeve, Super/Man.
The docuseries will focus on the actress’ charitable and humanitarian work, as well as her business profile, and will include interviews with her family, friends, and other celebrities such as Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dame Joan Collins, and Margaret O’Brien. “Elizabeth Taylor was herself and, without reservation, a fighter,” said Kim, who managed to interview the superstar in 2011, before her death in March 2011.
“She is proof that you can continue to evolve and change and have different chapters in your life – and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that model,” she emphasized.
“Elizabeth developed and defined our understanding of stardom and celebrity over decades. A unique talent and a true luminary, we are enormously excited to explore her extraordinary life and her enduring legacy,” said Hamish Fergusson, creative director and executive producer of Passion Pictures.
