We are referring to the plot of The Talented Mr. Ripley, because this Monday, January 22, Netflix released the trailer for Ripley, the new serial adaptation of the 1999 film, played by Matt Damon (Tom Ripley), Jude Law (Dickie Greenleaf), Gwyneth Paltrow (Marge Sherwood) and Cate Blanchett (Meredith Logue). The story is based on the novel of the same name by the American writer Patricia Highsmith.
On this occasion, the main character is played by the “most gallant, gentle and charming man in all of Ireland”, as the press in that country claims, Andrew Scott, whom we have seen in projects such as Fleabag, 1917, Black Mirror and recently in We Are All Strangers.
The series was originally developed by Showtime but was later acquired by Netflix in February of last year. The actor shares credits with Johnny Flynn, Dakota Fanning, and Eliot Sumner. Flynn will play “Dickie” Greenleaf, the rich, spoiled son who escapes to Italy and becomes the target of Tom’s attention, while Fanning plays Marjorie “Marge” Sherwood, Dickie’s closest friend and romantic interest. Sumner will play a friend of Dickie’s who soon becomes suspicious of Tom’s intentions.
