They’re not kids anymore. The gang from Hawkings, Indiana, is back for season 3 of Stranger Things, and this time they’re all grown up. Sort of. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Max (Sadie Sink), and Will (Noah Schnapp) are back, and this time, set to The Who’s “Baba O’Riley,” they’re about to face the biggest monster of all: hormones. The entire third season of Stranger Things will be dropping on Netflix on July 4th.
“We’re not kids anymore. I mean, what did you think, we were just going to sit in my basement all day? Play games for the rest of our lives?” asks Will. Adolescence seems to take center stage this season, as we see colorful and happy scenes from a summer carnival take hold of the trailer to the catchy tune by The Who. We see Eleven and Max read magazines and go to the mall, while Billy (Dacre Montgomery) is reminiscent of lifeguards as we know them from 90’s series like Baywatch and Beverly Hills 90210. Indeed, we can’t wait for this season’s teenage wasteland.

Meanwhile, adults Joyce Buyers (Wynona Ryder) and Jim Hopper (David Harbour) appear to be experiencing friction in their will-they-won’t-they relationship. Yet, while all of this is going on with the characters’ emotional life, a gooey, sharp-toothed monster bursts into the scene at the end of the trailer, signalling the gang is not safe from The Upside Down just yet.
The last season took place on Halloween, but this time, it’s the 4th of July, and the year is 1985 (the year of Back To The Future, so we’ll hopefully see a reference or two to this movie), and the kids are ready to leave their board games behind and set out on an adventure in the real world. This season picks up several months after we saw the gang escaping from the alternate universe they keep running into.

This long-awaited season will be the latest installment of the critically-acclaimed series since it was nominated for five Emmy Awards in 2018, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing, and Outstanding Writing. (Let’s not forget Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour also earned nominations of their own for their performances).
The titles of this season’s episodes were likewise simultaneously revealed and are as follow: “Suzie, Do You Copy?,” “The Mall Rats,” “The Case of the Missing Lifeguard,” “The Sauna Test,” “The Source,” “The Birthday,” “The Bite,” and “The Battle of Starcourt.” Its logline reads “In the summer of 1985, the adventure continues.” Count me in.
