James Gunn came to DC to stir things up in an attempt to make the franchise relevant after years of considerable failures. One of his big upcoming projects is Superman Legacy whose script was written by himself.
The reboot movie will deal with Superman’s attempt to reconcile his superhero Kryptonian self with his human upbringing in Smallville. The big question now is, if not Henry Cavill (who literally was the embodiment of the classic superhero) who can fill up the suit?!
Who Are the New Superman and Lois Lane?
Superman and Lois Lane have an official new face. It was confirmed this Tuesday that the lead roles will be played by David Corenswet and the amazing Rachel Brosnahan. The American actor rose to fame in the movie Pearl as well as the HBO series We Own This City. On her part, Rachel Brosnahan needs no introduction as she’s stolen the hearts of millions thanks to her hilarious role in the hit series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The search for other key characters in Superman Legacy is still going on, especially for characters like Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen. These might take a bit longer since the production team led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, focused on finding their lead couple ahead of a possible SAG-AFTRA strike that could go into effect this next June 30.
When Will Superman Legacy Premiere?
So far, the movie is scheduled to hit theaters next July 11, 2025. This, of course, if the writers’ and possible actor’s strikes don’t drag on.
Yes, I’m directing Superman: Legacy to be released on July 11, 2025. My brother Matt told me when he saw the release date he started to cry. I asked him why. He said, “Dude, it’s Dad’s birthday.” I hadn’t realized. pic.twitter.com/ohQNV8nI4g
