What do Donald Trump and Homelander have in common from The Boys series?
Well, to know the answer you have to see the new season of the series that will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in a few days. Because according to the creator of the show, the arc of the villain of the program was inspired by the former president and current president for the White House.

In a recent interview, Eric Kripke, showrunner of The Boys, provided some details about what fans will be able to see in this new installment and the vision of the character, masterfully played by Antony Starr.

Notably, since the series’ launch in 2019, Homelander has become a fan-favorite character, in part because he stars in some of the show’s bloodiest and most visceral moments.

Donald Trump Inspires Judgment In The Boys

“When Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and I presented the series, it was 2016. We wanted to make a realistic version of the superhero universe, where superheroes are celebrities who behave badly. Trump was the kind of ‘He’s not going to be a candidate, is he? When he was elected, we had a metaphor that said so much more about the world around us,” Kripke explained.

“All of a sudden, we were telling a story about the intersection of fame and authoritarianism, and how social media and entertainment are used to peddle fascism. We are right in the eye of the hurricane. And once we realized that, I just felt an obligation to run in that direction as much as we could,” he added.

On what will happen in the new season, the creator announced that Homelander will face trial, just as it happened to Trump, in turn, the series will question everything involved in bringing someone to trial in a position of so much power: “Is it possible to convict someone so powerful for a crime? And what does that mean for the various supporters or people protesting against him? Did I know it was going to come to light during Trump’s trial? Of course not. But we write what scares us or makes us angry,” Kripke detailed.

The Boys will premiere its first three episodes on Amazon Prime on June 13, the following will be presented weekly until ending on Thursday, July 18.
