Jack Adkisson, the patriarch of the family, began wrestling in the 1950s and received his stage name Fritz Von Erich when he teamed up with Waldo Von Erich, and both appeared in fights as a pair of brothers. The next victim of the curse was Mike Von Erich because although he was never that talented in wrestling, his father forced him to dedicate himself to the sport until he committed suicide from an overdose and left a note apologizing to his brothers for his lack of talent. Years later, in 1991, after an unsuccessful career in wrestling, due to his chronic asthma and the fact that he did not have the strength of his brothers, Chris Von Erich, the youngest of the dynasty who was 21 years old, could not stand the failure and took his own life by shooting himself in the head.
The misfortunes continued, because Kerry Von Erich, who many said was the most talented of the brothers, suffered a motorcycle accident in which his foot was amputated and although he tried to continue in the fight he was unable to do so and began to say that his brothers called him. In 1993 Kerry was found dead with a gunshot wound to the chest. The last of the Von Erich dynasty to die was Fritz Von Erich himself, who died in 1997 from brain cancer that reached his lungs.
