One of the things I always remember fondly about Christmas as a kid was watching TV while everybody was freaking out making dinner. My cousins and I would spend hours watching all the Christmas specials on TV and laughing at the ones that were extremely cheesy and corny (which was basically all of them).
Whether you find them cheesy or not, these Christmas music videos have entered the lore of popular and modern Christmas celebrations, and it’s quite hard not to love them. Take a look at our ultimate ranking and welcome the holiday spirit in the best way: through pop music.
“Merry Christmas Everyone” by Shakin’ Stevens
With over 60 million views (and for some reason, with most of the comments in Polish), this is probably the cheesiest Christmas video you’ll ever see in your life. Full of eighties glory and the corniest stories, you’ll probably have to check your blood sugar levels after watching this. Still, a lot of people in Poland love it, so Wesołych Świąt to everyone!
“Santa, Tell Me” by Ariana Grande
Though this video is only from 2014, Ariana has raised the bar so high with her latest vids that watching this one just makes me laugh. It’s definitely cute, but way too sugary. That ugly Christmas sweater is goals, though.
“Last Christmas” by Wham!
There’s nothing cheesier than a 1980s George Michael setting up the Christmas tree while singing about heartbreak. Well, maybe that Shakin’ Stevens song. Still, it’s one of the most popular non-carol Christmas songs of all time and a great opportunity to revel in the holiday spirit.
“Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” by NSYNC
With terrible visual effects and some lousy production, this might be one of the most timeless yet visually horrible Christmas videos ever, and we all love it! It’s the nineties extra-ness that we all love and makes us remember our childhood.
“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams
You might think this one belongs more to the cheesy part of our ranking, but if you think about it, cheesy wouldn’t be the word. Creepy, perhaps, but all in all, one of the most iconic songs and visuals of the season.
“Santa Baby” by Lindsey Stirling
This video might not be that famous, but it’s a really cool, modern version of the Christmas classic. Plus, Stirling is a very talented ballerina, and those moves on points are really stunning.
“Sleigh Ride” by TLC
Not only is this my favorite Christmas song of all time, but the rhythm and whole narrative of this version is also truly amazing. Mark my words, this song is on its way to become a classic of the season.
“Santa’s Coming For Us” by Sia
Without making a huge fuss about it, Sia might be one of the most important elements of today’s pop music by having written some of the biggest hits of the past few years. This original single has everything we love about a Christmas song, the cheesiness (on purpose, of course), and the joyous atmosphere.
“Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy” by David Bowie and Bing Crosby

This video is so simple and might not have all the Christmas elements that wow us, but it’s just legendary. I mean, with Bowie, Crosby, their emblematic voices, and our favorite Christmas carols, what’s not to love?
“All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey
Nothing warms a cold heart like watching Mariah Carey playing in the snow and hanging out with Santa as she sings her most iconic song. This one’s actually the perfect video combo of cheesy and timeless: it has the “classic” element, while still giving us all the nineties flair.
At the end of the day, let’s face it, Christmas is cheesy AF, but that’s the beauty of the holiday. It’s the time when we can soften our hearts and let ourselves get into the beauty and joy of the season.
