Drake Bell was a victim of sexual abuse by Brian Peck, a dialogue coach at Nickelodeon when he was just a child and now, several years later, the singer has managed to gather the strength necessary to talk about what he suffered. Through his music, Bell has found the perfect channel to vent and, once and for all, talk about everything that, for a long time, he never dared to say out loud. The actor premiered the song “I kind of relate” and in it, he shared with the public how difficult it was to survive sexual abuse, how that terrible experience and the mistakes he has made throughout his life have marked him.
What Does Drake Bell’s New Song Say?
Drake Bell fully opened his heart to portray the sexual abuse he suffered as a child, the car accident that left him seriously injured in the jaw, and the reasons that have led him to make Mexico his new home.

The video begins with a little boy reading a script who is then taken by the hand of a man and taken to his dressing room while the song goes:
“I found beauty in my pain
I’m running away
From the abuse and all the shame.”
Drake Bell can then be seen waking up after suffering a car accident and being taken to the emergency room, where several doctors check and cure him, while he sings and acknowledges that his past mistakes and bad decisions have kept him from “his golden days.”
“In 2008, I found love in Mexico
‘Cause no one wants to hear me in the states
So I’m running away.”
Finally, when everything could seem like darkness, Drake enters a set that pretends to be his room in the series Drake and Josh with a huge Mexican flag on the wall to tell us that neither his mistakes nor his past defines him because he is convinced of that now he will do things right.
“I know I was wrong but I’m gonna make it right
I know I’ve done wrong but I’m bound to make it right.”
