New artists are fighting the system that for decades let ticket companies make a fortune of music shows without really protecting the public. We saw how Taylor Swift and her Swifties pushed regulations in the US for ticket-selling companies, and it seems she’s not the only one willing to fight the system and allow real fans to enjoy watching their favorite stars performing.
Now, Olivia Rodrigo has come up with a plan to allow real fans to get cheap tickets so no one is left out! Yes, you heard it, she wants some real fans to attend her shows for only 20 dollars. How?
Olivia Rodrigo’s Silver Star Tickets Plan
The three-time Grammy winner has recently announced her long-awaited GUTS tour that will start in February 2024. Among many dates in the US, Rodrigo will also perform in some European countries, and rumor has it she might even add a Latin American leg to her tour.
With that in mind, and seeing what has been happening with ticket selling of mainstream shows, like the aforementioned Taylor Swift or Beyoncé, Olivia Rodrigo, and her team have come up with what they have called the Silver Star Tickets plan. These are a limited number of tickets that will cost $20 plus taxes and fees (or the equivalent in other countries).
How to get them? Only a few lucky fans will be able to enjoy these low-cost seats and they will be sold on the actual day of the show at the venue’s box office. Although it’s still unclear how are they going to select the fans that will be able to make this purchase, Olivia Rodrigo’s team has already explained that these will be sold in pairs.
Also, the Silver Star Tickets’ placement will be revealed to the fans that very same day, although it should be noted that the locations of these tickets feature limited-view seats, lower and higher-lever seating, and floor placement. So, it’s basically a raffle!
The idea of this initiative, as explained, is to allow fans who can’t afford pricey tickets to attend the show and to prevent scalpers from making a fortune from the tickets. Besides that, Olivia Rodrigo will also use the verified fan technique so that the tickets end up in true-fans hands, so be alert for registry!
