One of the things that certainly characterizes Genzers, is their crude and sharp sense of humor and the fearless way in which they challenge the world. One great example is the recent beef between the Catholic Church and pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter.

The Philly singer has joined the lines of pop artists who have offended the millenary institution by using b in their music videos or shows. It all happened almost a month ago when Sabrina Carpenter released her last video “Feather.” Wearing a provocative look with an all-black lingerie and a tulle veil, Sabrina Carpenter shows some controversial scenes, in which she is beaten up by some creepy men and how she ends up taking revenge. Oh, all this happens inside a church.

With the authorization of the priest in charge, “Feather” was filmed in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn. However, it seems that the story it tells and the pastel coffins laid out inside the church caused havoc among religious followers, and eventually, weeks later, the Brooklyn dioceses got word of it.

As we know, the Church always takes measures when feeling attacked, and Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, the church’s pastor, was immediately fired. He even issued an apology letter claiming he didn’t know what the video was going to be about when he authorized the filming. But that’s not all; Robert J. Brennan, Head Bishop in Charge, said he was “appalled” by Sabrina Carpenter’s use of blood and her sexy looks and moves. The Bishop was so shocked that he even performed a special mass to re-sanctify the church!

Now, as we said, Sabrina Carpenter belongs to a generation that uses humor to deal with serious matters in life, and this beef with one of the most important (and often violent) institutions in history, wasn’t the exception. In an interview with Variety, the singer replied to the controversy with a witty comment saying that they “got approval in advance” and that “Jesus was a carpenter.”

“Humor is such a healing part of my life. And I use it in everything — that’s how a lot of my songs happen,” said Sabrina Carpenter in the same interview, and with that smart and sharp comment about Jesus, we just want to say that we’ve automatically joined the “Carpenters!”

Here’s the video that made the Church angry!
