On October 15, 2024, the highly anticipated Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show made its grand return to New York City after a six-year hiatus. Last held in 2018, the lingerie brand faced significant scrutiny over its beauty standards and inclusivity. Now, the fashion show is back, aiming to reflect modern ideals while keeping the signature glamour that fans adore—wings, runways, and iconic models such as Kate Moss, who made her VS debut at 50-years-old.
Victoria’s Secret, The Return of a Fashion Giant

“Victoria’s Secret is back and better than ever, bringing the glamour, the runway, the wings, and all the entertainment you know and love!” the brand announced across social media before the event, generating widespread excitement.
Among the most awaited appearances was none other than supermodel Tyra Banks, returning to the Pink Carpet after nearly two decades away from the show. Banks first modeled for Victoria’s Secret in 1996 and was one of the first models to wear the iconic angel wings in 1998, making her return a historic moment.

Other standout iconic models gracing the runway included Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Barbara Palvin, Bella Hadid, Candice Swanepoel, Gigi Hadid, and Irina Shayk, just to name just a few. The show also saw the return of legends like Carla Bruni, Eva Herzigova, and, for the first time ever, Kate Moss.

Cher, in a dazzling black outfit, closed the musical performances. Wearing cargo pants and a shimmering jacket, she wowed the audience with her timeless voice, transitioning the show into its final lingerie collection: bold red sets adorned with holiday-style bows.

Fan favorite, Bella Hadid, also stole the spotlight in the last runway segment, sporting a fiery red lingerie set with a voluminous cape in shades of red, burgundy, and black, creating a striking ombré effect. The grand finale came when Tyra Banks returned to the runway, strutting in black crystal-studded tights and a silver cape, playing with it dramatically as all the models gathered to close the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024.

One of the show’s highlights was the celebration of diverse body types, with curvy models like Ashley Graham and Paloma Elsesser confidently owning the runway. Graham appeared in several scenes, her presence reinforcing the brand’s effort to broaden its beauty standards.
A Moment of Reflection: Is Victoria’s Secret Truly Embracing Change?

Despite the spectacle, the brand’s attempt at inclusivity has sparked debate. While featuring curvier models and women over 50 like Carla Bruni and Kate Moss has been applauded, some critics argue that the shift may be more of a marketing strategy than a genuine embrace of diversity.
Fashion insiders like Luis Javier Merino, an editor for ¡HOLA!, believe the change is authentic, highlighting how the brand’s philosophy has evolved. “The inclusion of someone like Kate Moss sends a strong message about women’s empowerment, no matter their age,” Merino commented, adding that her participation felt like a fitting match for the new Victoria’s Secret.

However, others, like stylist Pilar Lara, remain skeptical, pointing out that the inclusion of models like Moss might be more about generating buzz than real change. “Including someone like Kate is a strategic move to show that Victoria’s Secret is now inclusive, but I’m not convinced we’re seeing true inclusivity yet,” Lara remarked.
