Let’s talk about what went down (or rather, what got wet) on a recent Air India flight from Delhi to Bangkok. During the trip, a drunk passenger allegedly urinated on another traveler in the business class section. Yup, you read that right. The incident, confirmed by the airline as “unruly passenger behavior,” sparked immediate concern among crew and passengers alike.
According to reports, the victim was a managing director of a company and was understandably upset. However, they declined to file a formal complaint once the flight landed, even after Air India offered assistance. Despite the lack of a formal report, the airline acted quickly, banning the accused passenger from flying with them for a month and reporting the situation to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The airline also clarified that the lavatories were working perfectly fine at the time, so there was really no excuse for the behavior. Cabin crew followed standard protocols and the matter is now under further investigation by an independent committee.

A History of Bizarre Airborne Behavior on Air India
This isn’t Air India’s first brush with pee-related turbulence. In fact, back in 2022, there were two separate urination incidents during international flights:
- On November 26, 2022, a passenger on a New York to New Delhi flight allegedly urinated on an elderly woman while intoxicated. The story made global headlines. After being briefly banned for 30 days, the ban was extended to four months, and the man was eventually arrested by Delhi Police.
- Then on December 6, 2022, on a Paris to New Delhi route, another drunk passenger reportedly urinated on a blanket belonging to a female co-passenger. This case also drew backlash over passenger behavior and airline responsibility.
These recurring cases have pushed Air India to tighten its rules and upgrade its protocols on dealing with unruly passengers—especially those who think the sky is their personal restroom.
