In a tragic incident late Saturday night, Birmingham mass shooting bustled Five Points South district has left four people dead and at least seventeen others injured. The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. as multiple gunmen opened fire on a crowd gathered outside Hush, a popular lounge in the area.

According to Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond, the shooters targeted a specific individual, who was among those killed. The other victims were caught in the crossfire.

“We’re looking at whether the switch was used in this particular case, or was this an assault rifle that was fully automatic or some other type of weapon,” Thurmond said.

Over 100 shell casings were recovered from the scene, indicating the use of modified weapons capable of automatic fire. The victims have been identified as Anitra Holloman, 21, Tahj Booker, 27, Carlos McCain, 27, and Roderick Lynn Patterson Jr., 26.

“I want to make myself very clear on what the priority is: It is to hunt down, capture, arrest and convict the people who are responsible for this mass shooting,” said Mayor Randall Woodfin.

As the police hasn’t arrested anyone implicated in the tragedy, authorities have launched an urgent manhunt for the gunmen, who fled the scene immediately after the Birmingham mass shooting.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are assisting local police in the investigation.

There is also a reward of up to $100,000 has been announced for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.

Mayor Randall Woodfin condemned the violence and vowed to bring them to justice as there has been 31 mass shootings only this year so far in the United States.
