The recent assassination of Charlie Kirk story became even more disturbing when it emerged that only days before, South Park had released an episode that some claim may have incited the tragedy.

Charlie Kirk was an American political activist, founder and president of Turning Point USA, a conservative organization focused on mobilizing young people in defense of those values. From an early age, he became a prominent figure within the MAGA movement, participating in university debates where he promoted a critical stance toward progressivism, contemporary feminism, and inclusion policies. However, he was murdered yesterday during a public event at Utah Valley University. The incident occurred while he was answering questions in a live debate. The influencer was shot in the neck, fatally wounded, just moments after addressing a question about gun violence and mass shootings.

The shot was fired from the rooftop of the nearby Losee Center building. Although two individuals were initially detained, they were later released due to lack of evidence connecting them to the crime. The FBI recovered a high-powered rifle that may have been used in the attack, but so far, no perpetrator has been identified.

Kirk’s death has sparked a strong political reaction from major figures such as Donald Trump, who expressed condolences and ordered flags to fly at half-mast until September 14.

But that is not all. On social media, the news went viral that just days before the attack, South Park had aired an episode satirizing Kirk’s style of online content and debate appearances. The episode, “Got a Nut”, the second of season 27, has quickly become one of the most controversial in the show’s history due to its direct parody of conservative activist Charlie Kirk—released only weeks before his assassination.

In the episode, Eric Cartman adopts Kirk’s hairstyle, rhetoric, and debate persona, imitating his confrontational tone and provocative catchphrases. While Kirk himself had previously reacted with humor to the parody, following his death, some political figures suggested the episode may have influenced individuals to act against him, culminating in his assassination.

The controversy grew so intense that the episode was pulled from Comedy Central’s late-night lineup, although it remains available on Paramount+.
