The show premiered in 2003 and will end after 19 seasons and it is one of the most popular talk shows in American history. Ratings have certainly gone down, but most news outlets report that the reason for the show’s ending is the recent controversy.
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” has been accused of sexual misconduct, racism, and intimidation, on top of those accusations, the show’s production staff were also outraged by low pay, a lack of communication, and mistreatment by their superiors.
As a result, Ellen decided to call it a day with her show and step away from the multiple accusations. It is also believed that some of the show’s producers abused other employees sexually. The show’s spokespeople did not respond immediately to the accusations, but a statement to The Hollywood Reporter announced that the show would be ending.
When the show was investigated following staff complaints, Ellen sent a letter to her team and later announced that producers Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman, and co-producer Jonathan Norman had been fired. But Ellen’s apology was not enough. The show has lost advertisers, and they can’t book A-listers to appear on the show.
So, there you have it. There are many reasons why “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” will be no more.
