The ocean remains one of the greatest mysteries on Earth, and there’s no doubt that countless creatures still lie undiscovered beneath its depths. Recently, a fisherman was left stunned after pulling a bizarre, alien-like creature from the sea—an encounter that quickly went viral.

Russian fisherman Roman Fedortsov, known for sharing images and videos of the unusual marine life he encounters, took to social media to showcase his latest find. However, this time, his discovery stood out even more than usual.

A Deep-Sea Discovery That Looks Just Like an Alien

The eerie-looking creature has a dark gray, slimy body with a strange lump on top. It also appears to have a tail, but due to the swelling in its upper body, it gives off the illusion of an alien head that crash-landed in the ocean.

Fedortsov speculated that the creature is likely a smooth toadfish from the Lumpus family, a species native to the northern Pacific Ocean. He explained that its unusual appearance was caused by decompression—as it was brought to the surface, the rapid change in pressure caused its body to swell.

To accompany his post, the fisherman added a poetic caption dedicated to his bizarre catch, which naturally sparked a flood of reactions online.

Some social media users described the fish as something straight out of an H.P. Lovecraft novel, while others took a more humorous approach, jokingly asking if Fedortsov was decapitating aliens for views. A few even compared the creature to their own morning faces before heading to work.

One of the most popular references was the 1996 sci-fi comedy film “Mars Attacks!”, with many pointing out the resemblance between the creature’s swollen head and the Martians from the movie.

With over 600,000 followers, Fedortsov frequently shares images of deep-sea creatures that often look more like beings from another planet than ordinary fish. And judging by this latest discovery, it seems the ocean still has plenty of surprises waiting to be uncovered.
