The Chernobyl nuclear disaster, the worst in history, occurred in 1986. But now, a new incident has raised eyebrows.
On the night of February 13 to 14, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that a flying object crashed into the Chernobyl nuclear plant. As hours passed, speculation began to swirl that this could be a Russian attack.

The incident took place around 1:50 AM, and the object—later identified as a drone—struck the plant near the remains of Reactor 4. This reactor, which exploded on April 26, 1986, caused the most devastating nuclear disaster in history. Radiation levels in the area remain dangerously high to this day.

The sarcophagus containing the remains of Reactor 4, which involved international collaboration (including the United States), was completed in 2018. It cost €2.5 billion and was designed to last for 100 years. However, after the object crashed into the site, the protective dome was pierced.

Ukraine Accuses Russia of War Crime

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has accused Russia of being responsible for the incident, calling it an act of “nuclear terrorism” that poses a global threat.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the situation, stating that Russia continues to attack Ukrainian cities and infrastructure every night, making it clear that “Putin is not preparing for negotiations; he’s preparing to continue deceiving the world.” Zelensky demanded that Russia be held accountable for its actions.
