Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again found himself in a heated public spat, this time with climate activist Greta Thunberg. After Thunberg’s recent deportation from Israel alongside other activists attempting to deliver aid to Gaza, Trump called her “so crazy” and many other remarks.
Donald Trump and Greta Thunberg Get Into Heated Exchange
Thunberg was among roughly 171 activists removed from Israel after joining the Global Sumud flotilla, which attempted to break a maritime blockade and deliver humanitarian relief to Gaza. After being processed and deported, she arrived in Greece and made public comments calling the actions in Gaza a “genocide.” She also alleged mistreatment while in custody, saying she was held in a bedbug-infested cell with insufficient provisions.

In response to questions about the flotilla, Trump said:
“She’s just a troublemaker … she has an anger management problem. I think she should see a doctor.”
He added:
“If you ever watch her … she’s so angry, so crazy. You can have her.”
Greta Thunberg’s Response

Thunberg answered with characteristic composure and sharp irony. On her Instagram, she wrote:
“I heard Donald Trump once again has expressed his very flattering opinions on my character, and I appreciate his concerns for my mental health. To Trump: I would kindly receive any recommendations you might have to deal with these so-called ‘anger management problems,’ since — judging by your impressive track record — you seem to be suffering from them too.”
In the same response, she acknowledged Trump’s remarks with a sarcastic tone, implying that his insistence on her seeing a doctor would be more believable if directed inward.
Her message struck many as a deft reversal of the insult — turning the spotlight back on Trump’s frequent emotional outbursts.
Thunberg’s supporters and observers condemned Trump’s remarks as personal attacks intended to diminish her activism rather than engage with her arguments. Many pointed to the long history of political figures targeting vocal young women by questioning their mental stability.

Meanwhile, her description of mistreatment during detention added weight to her denunciations, suggesting that the dispute isn’t just rhetorical but tied to larger questions about state power, freedom of expression, and the rights of activists in contested geopolitical spaces.
At 22 years old, Thunberg continues to polarize opinion — but with each clash, she refines her message and sharpens her voice. Her response to Trump underscores a principle she’s long demonstrated: she’s not afraid to be both fierce and articulate in the face of powerful criticism.
