The early release of Gypsy Rose Blanchard from prison has resurfaced many details about the gruesome crime that sentenced her. The recent developments have sparked once again, curiosity towards everything surrounding the case, even wondering what happened to her then-boyfriend and accomplice Nicholas Godejohn.
However, beyond the details of this story that fueled all sorts of moral debates, there’s one thing that has caught the attention of netizens, the Facebook post that Gypsy made right after the murder of her mother and what would sentence her. Let’s go back a little bit.

The Gruesome Murder of Dee Dee Blanchard
Throughout Gypsy’s life, Dee Dee Blanchard built a net of lies and manipulation that spiraled to her tragic end the night of June 12, 2015. Since the premature birth of Gypsy Rose, Dee Dee, who has been diagnosed with Munchausen disorder by proxy claimed to her close ones she had a serious condition that impeded the young girl from developing normally.
As years went by, and Dee Dee ostracized her daughter from the world, including her father Rod Blanchard, the lies only got worse forcing Gypsy to a life of cruel abuse and unnecessary medical procedures. Rod even revealed that Dee Dee asked him to tell Gypsy she was 14 on her 18th birthday. Long story short, all these horrid stories would take an even more dreadful turn when Gypsy decided she needed to escape from her mother’s cruel rule.
After two years of a secret online relationship, Gypsy Rose convinced her boyfriend Nicholas to help her escape. The only way she found to succeed was to kill Dee Dee. The young and troubled couple met once that year for the first time, and their love and dark plot was sealed. The second time they saw each other was the night of the crime.
While Gypsy Rose hid in her bathroom, Nicholas brutally stabbed Dee Dee 17 times. Gypsy took all the money her mother had in the house, and both escaped to Wisconsin, where Nicholas lived. The rush of the moment made Gypsy make a terrible mistake. Once safe in Wisconsin, she decided to post some alarming texts.

The Infamous Post That Doomed Gypsy Rose Blanchard
The next day, Facebook friends, family, and followers of Gypsy and Dee Dee saw a disturbing message on their joint profile that read: “The B***h is dead!” Firstly, everybody assumed their account had been hacked. Users started pouring their concerns in the comments; “What is going on?” “WHAT?!!! Did your FB get hacked? I have never heard you talk like that,” and “Should someone notify the local police??? This sounds scary.”
Eventually, someone did contact the local authorities of Springfield, Missouri, who found the lifeless body of Dee Dee. The message now turned into the only clue the authorities had. But everybody thought Gypsy had been abducted by the killer of her mother, since who could think that an ill girl would be guilty of murder?
Not only that, she left other messages to deceive everybody, like the following which read “I f*****g slashed that fat pig and r***d her sweet innocent daughter… her scream was soooo f*****g loud lol.” However, this wasn’t enough to unveil the dark truth. The IP of the post was tracked, and the police were soon led to Nicholas Godejohn’s house. The big surprise was that Gypsy was perfectly well with him.
Incredibly, that initial post is still live on the platform, and although it’s impossible to comment, you can still read the many messages of concern that their followers poured right after. Although we already know what happened, reading how information about what was going on started to appear eight years ago is truly unsettling.
