Florida residents are preparing themselves for what could be one of the strongest hurricanes in history as Dorian storm, which intensified into a hurricane on Friday afternoon, lingers in the Atlantic. Dorian is expected to arrive in Florida on Tuesday, though the possibility that it moves north or south is also to be taken into account. It’s still unclear exactly which cities in Florida will most likely be affected, but Eastern coastal residents in particular are amassing sandbags against flooding and are tacking plywood over windows.
@lenarasuccess “If it makes landfall as a category 3 or 4 hurricane, that’s a big deal,” Brian McNoldy who does hurricane research at the University of Miami told the Associated Press. “A lot of people are going to be affected. A lot of insurance claims.”
What is specially worrying about Dorian is its slow speed, seeming to be lingering in and around Florida which has increased risks of sitting over the state and thus prolonging strong winds and much rainfall. Meteorologists have explained fears of Dorian making landfall in Florida on Tuesday as a category 4 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 140mph.

Reports have described the probability of the storm diverting eastward to the Atlantic ocean but the possibility of cutting across the state of Florida and into the Gulf Mexico, while growing in strength is very real.
