The alleged JD Vance leaked audio tears into Musk, saying things like “He’s making us look bad” and even, “He has the audacity to act like he is an elected official. I am an elected official.”
One of the most talked-about lines? A jab at Musk’s origins: “He’s cosplaying as this great American leader. He’s not even American!”
In the recording, the supposed Vance complains that Musk’s public behavior is hurting the image of the administration:
“Everything that he’s doing is getting criticized in the media and he says that he’s helping and he’s not.”
It also adds a personal dig:
“He’s making me look bad.”

Is It Real, Tho?
Not likely. JD Vance’s team quickly shut it down, with his communications director calling it “most certainly not the Vice President.”
AI detection tools have also flagged the clip as likely fabricated, and it first surfaced on TikTok — a common hub for deepfakes.
JD Vance himself also spoke out:
“It’s a fake AI-generated clip. I’m not surprised this guy doesn’t have the intelligence to recognize this fact, but I wonder if he has the integrity to delete it now that he knows it’s false. If not, it could be defamation. I guess we’ll find out!”
