After Holy Week, when the death and Resurrection of Jesus of Christ are commemorated, Christmas Day is the most important date on the calendar for millions of faithful worldwide. Through the different biblical passages found in the Gospels, the birth of Jesus Christ has become fundamental for believers. Therefore, throughout the centuries, people have sought to visit the exact location of the famous manger.
Where Was Jesus Christ Born?
According to the Gospels, the manger where Jesus of Nazareth was born was located in the city of Bethlehem. Nowadays, according to the belief, the church that guards the exact place of the birth of Jesus Christ is in Palestine inside the famous Basilica of the Nativity. The construction was built just above the supposed cave and, inside, a star marks the exact spot where Jesus was supposedly born in the manger.
The Basilica of the Nativity is one of the oldest churches in the world. After the revision of the Gospels and other writings, the first construction of the temple was made in the fourth century AD by the order of Emperor Constantine, a key figure in the expansion of Christianity worldwide.
In a very important detail, as in the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, the care of the temple is shared by several churches: the Catholic, Orthodox, and Armenian Apostolic, as well as the Copts and Syrians.
