Joe Biden has promised a “peaceful” and “orderly” transition to Donald Trump following Trump’s victory in the presidential election.
In recent weeks, Biden, the current President of the United States, had stayed out of the spotlight as Vice President Kamala Harris led the Democratic Party’s campaign efforts. However, following Trump’s election victory, Biden reemerged to reassure the nation of a smooth transition.
Joe Biden’s Speech

On Thursday, President Biden remarked, “You can’t love your country only when you win” adding that he has already spoken with his future successor, Donald Trump, to ensure the “peaceful and orderly transition” that the nation deserves.
“Yesterday, I spoke with President-elect Trump to congratulate him on his victory and assured him that my entire administration will work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition,” Biden stated in a speech from the White House.

“I will keep my promises and uphold the Constitution on January 20, Inauguration Day for the next president. We will have a peaceful transfer of power here in the United States.”
Biden also expressed his admiration for Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris.
She ran an inspiring campaign, and everyone got to see something that I learned early on to respect so much: her character, he gave her wholeheart[ed] effort, and she and her entire team should be proud of the campaign they ran.” Biden said, though he acknowledged the victory ultimately went to Trump. “For some, now is a time of victory, but for others, it is a time of loss. Our country chooses one path or another, and we must accept it.”

He then reiterated a sentiment he has shared in the past regarding false claims of election fraud spread by Trump after his 2020 defeat: “I’ve said many times that you can’t love your country only when you win,” Biden emphasized in his first public address following Trump’s victory.

The President acknowledged the results of Tuesday’s election—a point that the Democratic candidate also emphasized in a recent speech at Howard University, reaffirming confidence in the electoral system after Trump’s previous attacks on its integrity following his 2020 loss.
“Our system is honest, fair, and transparent, worthy of trust whether in victory or defeat. I hope we can renew respect for poll workers, who have worked tirelessly and deserve our gratitude,” Biden concluded.
