VIDEO: Katy Perry’s Space Trip Might’ve Been Staged—This Viral Detail Has the Internet Convinced

One odd moment has sparked serious doubts about whether the mission was real or just a PR stunt.

This past week, the internet has been buzzing about Katy Perry and five other women taking off into a space trip. The reason? It was the first-ever commercial expedition meant for people with zero aerospace training. Just regular (very rich) people sent beyond the Earth’s atmosphere. But there’s a catch: many now believe the whole thing might’ve been staged.

The mission, named NS-31, was put together by Jeff Bezos’ aerospace company Blue Origin. To add sparkle (and media coverage), they brought in none other than pop icon Katy Perry, alongside Lauren Sánchez, Bezos’ fiancée. It was supposed to be a groundbreaking moment in space tourism—except it may have just been a well-rehearsed scene.

Was the Katy Perry’s Space Trip Fake?

A clip shared on social media shows the moment the capsule—where the six women were supposedly returning from space—lands on Earth. As the scene unfolds, viewers were expecting a cinematic finale where Jeff Bezos would arrive and ceremoniously open the capsule door.

But seconds before Bezos reached the capsule, the door was already opened from the inside. A woman—allegedly part of Bezos’ team—quickly stepped in and signaled the crew to shut the door again, presumably so the billionaire could do his grand reveal.

In a follow-up clip, Jeff Bezos approaches with a tool in hand, mimicking the act of forcing open the hatch. Except… there was no resistance. The capsule door opened effortlessly, adding fuel to the growing theory that this was more of a photo op than a real mission.

People online didn’t hold back. Comments ranged from: “This was staged just like the moon landing decades ago,” “I’m no genius, but that hatch didn’t look secure. What if it opened during re-entry?, ”“This is just space tourism marketing.”

There are videos showing Katy Perry and the crew “floating” inside the capsule and gazing at Earth. But with today’s advanced tech—and the internet’s eagle eyes—it’s getting harder and harder to believe everything we’re shown. Could it have been real? Maybe. Was it all a media spectacle? Possibly.
Either way, the truth might be forever stuck in orbit.
