The anthology series “Monster,” created by Ryan Murphy and whose first season introduced us to the story of Jeffrey Dahmer, is back with the terrifying story of the Menendez brothers.
This case was one of the most talked about in the late 80s and almost all of the 90s, the double homicide committed by Lyle and Erik Menendez.

Lyle and Erik Menendez are two brothers accused of brutally murdering their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, inside their luxurious mansion in Beverly Hills.
What made this case more shocking than it already was on its own was the motive that led the brothers to commit the terrible act, since, although at first they denied their participation in the homicide, some time later, when they revealed their actions, they were glad to have acted to protect their lives.
The fact that their father was an important Hollywood executive and his sons decided to kill him and his wife Kitty by shooting them at point-blank range with a shotgun that the brothers had bought just a few days after the attack was something that made the world stop and go into complete shock in those years.
In total, their father was shot six times and their mother ten times in the mansion that the family had in Beverly Hills.
Why Did the Menendez Brothers Killed Their Parents?
Both confessed to the authorities that the real reason behind the murder was that for years they had been victims of physical and emotional abuse by their parents.

On the other hand, the American prosecutors argued that the young men had committed the crimes in order to inherit their parents’ millionaire estate.
It is for this reason that the series will try to present the case from a different perspective, allowing us to create our own judgment about the facts.
What Happened to Lyle and Erik Menendez?
Lyle and Erik Menendez’ trials took place between 1993 and 1995 and in the end, because they could not prove the abuses they alleged, they were sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of leaving again.
But also, because they were accomplices in the crime, the United States authorities decided to separate them in 1996, as a precaution against them planning to escape together.
From that moment on, according to some reports, they did not see each other again, nor did they talk on the phone, they could only send each other letters and played chess by sending their moves in this way.
It was not until 2018 that Lyle Menendez’s security restrictions were reduced and he was transferred from Mule Creek State Prison in Northern California to RJ Donovan in San Diego, where his brother Erik was, meeting again for the first time in a long time.
Now, it has been confirmed that this coming September 19th a miniseries will be released on Netflix that will address the story that shocked the entire United States and will answer many of our questions… or maybe end up even more confused.
