In newly released transcripts and audio, Ghislaine Maxwell, now serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, offered her account to the Department of Justice during a two-day interview in July with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. The session, unusual both in its senior-level interviewer and candid format, yielded several headline-making assertions — but also notable gaps.

Maxwell’s Declarations About Trump
Maxwell firmly denied ever witnessing former President Donald Trump behaving inappropriately. “I actually never saw the President in any type of massage setting,” she stated. “I never witnessed the President in any inappropriate setting in any way. The President was never inappropriate with anybody. In the times that I was with him, he was a gentleman in all respects.”
She characterized Trump’s relationship with Epstein as cordial but not intimate. “I don’t … think they were close friends,” she remarked. “I certainly saw them together … but they seemed friendly like people are in social settings.”
Maxwell also dismissed long-standing conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein, including a supposed “client list” or blackmail operation involving powerful figures. “There is no list. I’m not aware of any blackmail. I never heard that. I never saw it,” she told Blanche, likening the frenzy of speculation to a modern-day “Salem witch trial.”

When questioned about other high-profile individuals linked to Epstein, including Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, or foreign dignitaries, Maxwell offered none of the alleged details needed to substantiate wrongdoing. She described Clinton as “truly extraordinary” but insisted she never saw any misconduct.
Beyond these points, she cast doubt on the official narrative of Epstein’s death, expressing skepticism that it was a suicide. She suggested it might have been a prison homicide, though likely not part of a broader cover-up.
Of note: just days after the interview, Maxwell was transferred from a low-security facility in Florida to a minimum-security camp in Texas — a move that provoked speculation about whether the interview influenced her treatment.
