For instance, she made headlines by choosing to skip the customary symbolic meeting with outgoing First Lady Jill Biden, despite an invitation to attend while President Joe Biden meets with the President-elect. Sources cited a prior commitment related to her book as the reason, but her office later confirmed she would not participate.
Melania’s office provided no reason for her absence, issuing only a message of “best wishes” to her husband. In her place, Jill Biden welcomed Donald Trump upon his arrival and handed him a letter for Melania, congratulating her and offering her team’s support to facilitate the transition.

About this next chapter, Melania stated, “I’m not anxious because this time is different. I have much more experience and knowledge. I was in the White House before. When you go in, you know exactly what to expect,” she told Fox News.
The ex-model and former First Lady is expected to split her time between New York City and Palm Beach, staying close to her social circle while appearing at major events and handling select duties as First Lady. Sources also suggested that she will spend significant time in New York to be near her son, Barron. “It was his decision to stay in New York and live at home. … He’s enjoying his college days,” she said.
Unlike her husband’s previous campaigns, Melania played a far less visible role this time, appearing only at his reelection announcement, a Madison Square Garden rally, and the election night event in West Palm Beach. She was also seen next to Trump at the voting polls in Florida.
Those close to her indicate that Melania prefers a more private role, advising her husband behind the scenes rather than publicly.
Even on the campaign trail, Melania has not joined Donald Trump frequently, attending only a handful of events. Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci once remarked that Melania might not be the biggest supporter of her husband’s return to office, joking, “My wife hates Trump as much as Melania does.”
During her initial time as First Lady, Melania kept a lower profile, attending to White House events with a sense of decorum but retreating from public life soon after.
