The USA men’s four rowing team has achieved an incredible victory, winning the gold medal in a historic feat at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

This is a historic event since the United States hasn’t achieved success in this sport and category since Rome in 1960.

The American team, composed of Nick Mead, Justin Best, Michael Grady, and Liam Corrigan, narrowly edged out New Zealand, finishing just 0.85 seconds ahead.

1960 Rome Men’s Four Victory

The Men’s Four team rowers back then were John Sayre, Ted Nash, Richard Wailes, and Rusty Wailes. The team won the gold medal in the coxless fours event making the 2024’s victory something historical. 

The 1960 Rome Olympics were iconic for many reasons, including being the first Olympics covered extensively on television. The rowing events took place at Lake Albano.
