The late billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed, once a prominent figure in the business world and former owner of the luxury department store Harrods, is now at the center of serious allegations of abuse and rape. These accusations have surfaced posthumously, casting a shadow over his legacy.
A recent BBC documentary has brought to light testimonies from over 20 former employees of Harrods, who accuse Al Fayed of sexual assault, including rape.
More Than 20 Former Harrods Staff Accused Mohamed Al Fayed For Abuse and Raping
Five women have come forward with specific allegations of rape, describing harrowing experiences at various locations, including Al Fayed’s properties in London, Paris, St. Tropez, and Abu Dhabi.

“Mohamed Al Fayed was a monster, a sexual predator with no moral compass whatsoever,” one of the women said.
One woman recounted her ordeal at Al Fayed’s Park Lane apartment, stating, “I made it obvious that I didn’t want that to happen. I did not give consent. I just wanted it to be over”. Another woman, who was a teenager at the time, described a similar experience at his Mayfair address.
Harrods, now under new ownership, has expressed deep regret and condemnation of the alleged actions of its former owner.
In a statement, the current owners said they were “utterly appalled” by the allegations and acknowledged that the business had failed its employees during Al Fayed’s tenure. They have since prioritized settling claims with the victims to avoid prolonged legal battles.

Mohamed Al Fayed’s entrepreneurial journey began in Alexandria, Egypt, and saw him rise to prominence in the UK after acquiring Harrods in 1985.

Despite his public persona and connections with the British Royal Family, these allegations paint a starkly different picture of a man who allegedly abused his power and instilled fear among his employees.
The BBC documentary, “Al-Fayed: Predator at Harrods,” has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice for the victims.
As more women come forward with their stories, the full extent of Al Fayed’s alleged misconduct continues to unfold.
What Legal Actions Can Be Taken?
Currently, the legal actions regarding the allegations against Mohamed Al Fayed are primarily focused on civil claims. The current owners of Harrods have expressed their intention to settle claims with the victims to avoid prolonged legal battles.
This approach aims to provide some form of justice and compensation to the victims without the need for extensive court proceedings.
Given that these allegations have surfaced posthumously, criminal prosecution is not possible. However, the civil claims process allows the victims to seek redress and hold the estate accountable for the alleged misconduct.
