Take it from Pamela Anderson: Julian Assange’s arrest is a cowardly and authoritarian move from the US and its allies. Whatever you may think about Julian Assange, we can all agree the US is persecuting him for publishing a truth that was inconvenient to them, so it’s only natural that Anderson’s reaction went like this:
I’m deeply concerned at the response from mostly Americans who actually believe simply that Julian helped elect Trump? And seem to believe the propaganda used to discredit him. I don’t want to say any more about the lies but sneaky obvious moves. Surely you can see he was correct in believing that USA was relentlessly trying to shut him up for exposing the truth. For being a vehicle helping expose crimes against humanity being in the public eye helped him evade rendition, torture or death so far. We must keep all eyes on him. And as for the election -old news- publishing truthful and important information did not help Hillary Clinton (her emails) Wikileaks is a publisher of truthful information and the results are a more educated public.The results of an election are the «fault» of the people. Not of a single journalist. And he’s obviously no friend of Trump. Extradition! «I told you so» -The defiant and courageous Julian Assange
Whatever side you may take, you have to hand it to Anderson. She’s taking in the situation and describing this power move with more sensibility than you’ll hear on mainstream media. Anderson built a personal relationship with Assange, probably due to their like-mindedness, so it is only understandable that the news are terrible for her personally, but for the ideology she pursues, as well.

She has previously stated that she “doesn’t believe there’s a link between Julian and Russia.” The two became friends since he sought asylum at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, and she has gone as far as saying Assange “represents everything America does when it comes to true information and freedom of speech.”

“Activism is sexy,” Pamela Anderson has said, and we most definitely believe her. Why? Because she herself is sexy AF, duh. But, most importantly, because she is the most clear-minded, outspoken, and eloquent social activist to have hit social media. And it’s true: being a staunch, left-wing political activist is not something you would expect from a Hollywood sex icon. But we should wonder why it is that wouldn’t expect it, specially since Anderson challenges this notion and subverts the industry’s stereotypes every day.
People began taking notice of her activism a few months ago when she tweeted and published an article on her blog about the “gilet jaunes” riots. Anderson defended the yellow vests’ cause and analyzed the situation from their perspective, describing the economic violence that is used against everyday people.
The critics of “violent riots” pretend that the current capitalist society is non-violent. Violence is a part of modern society and comes in many forms… So what is the violence of all these people and burned luxurious cars compared to the structural violence of the French and global elites?
This post came as a surprise to many, but she’s been a staunch political activist for years. There was her work with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), as well as her “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign in 2003, a protest against Kentucky Fried Chicken, and an attempt to stop seal hunting, a cause she shares with Vladimir Putin, by the way. She was also among some high-profile travelers who went to Haiti to help distribute aid after the earthquake that hit the country in 2010.

I’ve been doing this for years! I don’t know where everybody has been. They’re like, “Oh, you’re finally doing something with your life,” and I’m like, “Motherf–ker, I’ve been doing this since I f–king came to L.A. … It was never my intention to get any credit for any of it, and people are just noticing.
Let’s get real. It surprised me, too, but it lead me to some introspection. Indeed, why wouldn’t a female sex icon be a political activist? Perhaps it’s because of a tired old and misogynist idea about attractive people, specially women, being dumb.

However, I think it mostly surprised me because of the idea that Hollywood actors and models are self-centered, superficial, and people who pursue luxury and fame, and to be fair, I don’t think this is entirely wrong. Yet, many actors and musicians champion several noble causes, which is fine, but their idea of the socioeconomic and political establishment isn’t as sophisticated as they would like us to think it is. Most stop short of going the extra mile. Not Pamela Anderson, though. Not only is she fully committed to her causes, but she also takes it seriously by informing herself, writing about it, and taking the time to publish and fully explain her arguments, and in fact does so better than most, if not all, pundits out there.
Pamela Anderson is the hero we deserve and the one we need right now.
