The French prosecutor’s office announced that a Rwandan Paralympic athlete, who was scheduled to participate in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, has been missing since August 20, and an investigation has already been opened to find her whereabouts.
The Rwandan Paralympic athlete is part of the wheelchair volleyball team and at approximately 7:00 p.m. she left the facilities in Courbervoie, where her delegation is staying, to go to dinner, however, she did not return with her teammates.
From that moment, she was reported missing and efforts were initiated to try to locate her, but after more than a week had passed without any news of her, the Nanterre Prosecutor’s Office began a formal investigation for “worrying disappearance”, although the athlete’s identity has not been revealed.

After the Rwandan Paralympic Athlete’s Disappearance, the Rwandan Ambassador to France Traveled to Paris
Concerned about the disappearance of the athlete, efforts have been joined by French and Rwandan authorities, so the Rwandan ambassador to France has traveled to Paris to supervise the search operations and coordinate with local authorities the attempts to find the whereabouts of his compatriot.

As the days go by and the athlete cannot be located, many wonder if she has been the victim of a crime, if she is currently in danger or if she simply disappeared voluntarily, as the lack of information has contributed to fueling the mystery and speculation about her disappearance.
This case has called into question the security in Paris in the face of an event of such magnitude as the Paralympic Games, as the city has made an effort to offer a safe environment for both tourists and the thousands of athletes who attend the sporting event.
