There are three options here: either you were absolutely shocked by the title of the article, you’re here out of curiosity, or it has happened to you at some point. No matter the reason why you’re here, it’s okay because, to start with, there’s nothing wrong with this. It’s actually quite common. As some of you might have thought while reading the title of the article, I was also shocked when wandering through the Internet I found a blog entry of a woman narrating one of her most embarrassing sexual moments. She explained how in the morning she felt the need of going to pee when all of a sudden her partner woke up ready for an early passionate moment. Everything was going well, but then she just felt the famous liquid coming out of her body as a hose. Now, I personally haven’t experienced that, but I just can imagine how she must’ve felt, not precisely due to embarrassment (which can be really a very awkward situation), but the confusion. I mean, it’s not the worst thing to ever happen (actually some people even have fantasize about this), but if it’s something that happens out of the blue, it can be quite a fuss.

After reading this anecdote, I kept thinking about how random it sounded, so I started researching. There’s a logic behind this “accident.” If you look at women’s anatomy, you’ll see that the vaginal conduct is parallel to the urethra, the conduct that leads to the bladder. If you’re having sex with a full bladder, just like the woman of the story, it’s quite easy for this organ to be pressed by some of the movements, and you know, the rest is history. The more I looked into it, the more common this situation appeared to me. There are several recommendations by sex experts about going to the bathroom before having sex. The most common advice I found was for women to make a discharge after sex in order to prevent possible UTI’s. However, it was also highly recommended to do so before the act to prevent peeing, as well as the discomfort a full bladder can cause.
If the bladder is full, the urethra and the sphincter do their best to hold the liquid right in their place, but with the motion of sex, these conducts can be touched, causing a strong pain and a possible damage of the urethra. Not so nice, right? However, on the same note, there were some testimonies assuring that feeling the need to pee during sex can be quite pleasurable. The thing here is that the area gets a bit more sensitive when our bladder is kind of full. It gets to touch the vaginal conduct enhancing the sensations during sex. But as pleasurable as it can be, it can also be risky due to the UTI we were talking about. You know how it works, so it’s not very advisable to hold it for such a long time, and if the intercourse lasts for a while, it can put your tract in jeopardy. Of course, this happens almost exclusively with sex involving penetration.

We can’t leave the subject without talking about a phenomenon that has been ignored by many and has recently become a subject of interest for many, and that is squirting. Let me explain in case you don’t know much about this. Squirting, also known as female ejaculation, is the discharge of a milky substance coming from the Skene glands when reaching an orgasm. These glands are located right next to the urethra, and the sensation can be similar to peeing. Now, this doesn’t happen every time you have sex, not even every time you have an orgasm, that’s why it’s become a sort of goal in sexual relationships nowadays. According to sexologist Carol Queen, the similarities can be many, but it’s important to know that the main difference involves pain. If that’s the case, it’s most likely that you actually have to pee to stop it, but if you just feel the need without pain, it can be a good sign that you’re about to squirt.
So, basically, no matter how weird it might sound, this is, in fact, something that can happen if we neglect our bladders. It’s always better to excuse yourself for a minute and do what you need to do before sex, rather than putting your health at a risk, or actually peeing in the middle of the act.
