A few days ago, Britney Spears appeared before a judge to end the “abusive” conservatorship her father, Jamie Spears, has on her. She made strong statements that caused a commotion amongst her fans, and many other celebrities went vocal on social media to ask for the singer’s freedom.
However, it was not the first time that Britney requested to remove her father as her conservator. In November 2020, she submitted a request that was denied. This past March Britney submitted another request without getting the response she was hoping for.

It seemed this time was going to be favorable for Britney, as she herself assured the judge that she had a lot to say and hoped to be heard. However, even after hearing her talking with clarity about all the abuses she has been subjected to for the past 13 years, the judge has again rejected her request. Her father will continue to have control of her finances and her life.
“This guardianship is paying the salary of many people. I’m fed up,” “I’m not happy,” “I can’t sleep,” and “I felt drugged,” were some of the statements made by the Princess of Pop that caused indignation among those who ask for her freedom.

Last week was the first time Britney Spears spoke publicly about the control her father has exercised over her life since 2008, both in artistic and highly personal matters.
For his part, Jamie Spears called for an investigation after the allegations against him and handed over documents in which he assures that he has had no power over Britney in recent years. He also requested that “those serious allegations of forced labor, forced medical therapy, inadequate medical care and deprivation of personal rights be investigated.”
