When Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul simultaneously posted on his Instagram account that there were 24 hours left for his big reveal, it wasn’t at all clear what it was about: “A collaboration so smooth you can taste it. 24 hours people!”. It seems though, that both he and Aaron Paul have been brewing something for years right under our noses. The next day, both Paul and Cranston released a message on their Instagram accounts announcing the launch of their very own Mezcal brand called Dos Hombres (Spanish for “Two Men”.
@bryancranstonThey not only announced their new brand but even managed to tell a story. Granted, it seems like they’re trying a bit hard to make it really epic, taking a trip all over Oaxaca, searching, and searching. Though they probably just made business with some local producer then headed back to the US. But let’s cut them some slack for the effort. “Three years ago we sat in a sushi bar in New York. Talking about life and what we could possibly do down the road together. We had the time of our lives while shooting Breaking Bad and truly built a very special bond. Knowing that we couldn’t share the screen for quite a while – our thoughts turned to a new project. We sipped cocktails and thought about what it should be. The younger one looked at his drink and said, you know what we should do? We should do a really special Mezcal. The older one said, you mean the liquor with a worm at the bottom? Nah, that was just some bullshit gimmick, I mean real, artesanal Mezcal made by hand in Mexico.” And that’s pretty much how all stories of Mezcal begin. One day you’re sitting with your rich actor friend in New York City and the next one you just embark on a business you know absolutely nothing about.
@aaronpaul“We searched high and low all over Oaxaca, met incredible people along the way and after a beautiful yet grueling search throughout that majestic landscape we believed we may have found our place.” They really managed to sneak some really cool pictures of the landscapes, though.
@bryancranston“It was on a dirt-road, in a tiny village, hours away from the center of town, we found it and it was perfect. Holy shit it was perfect. We looked at each other and just simply nodded. This is it.”
@bryancranston“We named it Dos Hombres – two guys on a quest.” There’s been an overflow of mezcal brands in recent years and these two beloved actors (and they truly are beloved) have embarked on this business quest and are now granting several images of their trip to us. It’s fun just to watch them outside Hollywood, New York or even Albuquerque, heading out South of the border for some old fashioned fun.

If you were to pay attention, their Instagram post could also be educational. Below is a picture of Aaron Paul looking at the agave pineapple, from where tequila and mezcal are taken. Here they are piled up, ready to be taken to the next step. Soon, they’ll be ready to become one of the booming distilled drinks in recent years.
