Rodarte, the fashion house created by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, wanting to create painted portraits of women who are not only inspiring for them but to the world, has recently revealed the faces and designs for their new Spring 2020 collection. With a mixture of classic shapes, pastel hues, and really dreamlike imagery, the campaign features some of Hollywood’s A-listers gracefully modeling their romantic and surreal designs.
First released on Vogue Runway, these painted portraits, as the designers call them, take us on a fantasy journey featuring our favorite personalities of the entertainment and music industries. With Yalitza Aparicio, Kirsten Dunst, Margaret Qualley, Gabrielle Union, Lauren Tsai, King Princess, Gia Coppola, among many others, this 2020 spring-summer campaign is really out of this world. Plus, we have the chance to witness some epic reunions like that of Dunst and Union (they shared screen on Bring It On), and January Jones and Kiernan Shipka from Mad Men.
As the Mulleavy sisters claim, their brand has earned a special place in media. They’ve felt more and more confident to explore and find their own and unique voice: “it’s been really nice to think artistically about creating a world behind each collection.” And, the collection with its entire creative campaign shows a great personality setting it apart from what many other brands are creating.
