It’s been twenty years since SpongeBob SquarePants first aired on television, and of course, since birthdays don’t go that simple down in Bikini Bottom, Nickelodeon announced there would be lots of surprises for all of us who love and grew up with our best square friend. Starting with its own Pantone, a long marathon to binge-watch, and of course, the cherry on top: a new Nike line of sneakers inspired by Bob himself and his iconic best friends.

SpongeBob SquarePants x Nike Kyrie Collection is the name of the release and it’s inspired in Nike’s famous Kyrie 5 and Kyrie 2 models, which make them perfect not only for basketball but for any intense sport.

In collaboration with NBA player Kyrie Irving (Boston Nets) and sponsor of the brand, Nike has revealed the five different models which will be in stock from August 10th, though it’s most likely they won’t be available for long. The star of the show, though, is the SpongeBob model, of course. It has a bright combination of a vibrant yellow fabric and laces combined with brown, red, and white soles.

Naturally, Patrick Star has his own iconic design as Bob’s best and most loyal friend and adventure partner. The Kyrie 5 ‘Patric Star’ might be one of the favorites with its classic combination of pink and the iconic bright green. Oh, and by the way, the soles have the emblematic purple flowers that make of Patrick Star a real fashionista.

Along with the main characters, the collection has what, in my opinion, are the coolest designs. There’s a pair inspired by the greedy Mr. Krabs with a cool combination of red and blue. There’s also the Sandy model, which is perfect for those who appreciate a more simple style, since it’s all white, inspired by her astronaut suit and a cute little flower. And my personal favorite: the Squidward design with the unique mint hue with hints of aqua, golden details, and purple soles.

There’s no doubt that SpongeBob is one of those characters we’ll always love and hold dearly in our hearts. Even after so many years, the cartoon and its amazing characters still have the ability to make us laugh. So, to the SpongeBob Squarepants x Nike collaboration, we say, aye, aye, captain!
