In a move that’s equal parts surprising and so 2024, Nike has teamed up with Kardashian’s shapewear empire, Skims, to create a new brand—wait for it—NikeSkims. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like: a fusion of performance gear and body-hugging magic that promises to “disrupt the global fitness and activewear industry.” Because if there’s one thing Kim K knows how to do, it’s disrupt.

What Is NikeSkims?

According to a recent Instagram post, NikeSkims will feature a range of training apparel, footwear, and accessories designed to “sculpt and engineered to perform.” Essentially, if you’ve ever been curious about activewear that combines style with functionality, this collection might be right up your alley.

The collection will debut in the U.S. this spring, both online and at “select retail locations,” with a global rollout planned for 2026. Pricing and product images are still under wraps, but let’s be real: if Skims’ $98 bras are any indication, you might need to start saving now.

Why Kim, Though?

Nike’s never partnered with an outside company to create a new brand before. They’ve relied on acquisitions or tapped athletes like Michael Jordan to sell sneakers. But Kim Kardashian? That’s a first. And honestly, it’s kind of genius.

Skims has been a runaway success since its 2019 launch, with the brand now valued at a staggering $4 billion. It’s expanded beyond shapewear to include menswear and snagged sponsorships with the NBA, WNBA, and Team USA. Meanwhile, Nike’s been struggling to keep up with competitors like Lululemon and Alo, not to mention upstart running brands like Hoka and On.

“In theory, Nike should have all the skills needed to drive its own brand in womenswear, but the reality is it has lost some of its ability to story tell, innovate, and wow consumers,” said Neil Saunders, a retail analyst at GlobalData Retail. “Partnering with Skims remedies some of those weaknesses.”

In other words, Nike needs Kim more than Kim needs Nike.

The Kardashian Effect
