Coachella is being celebrated, and in addition to being one of the music festivals, it is also iconic for its unique fashion and the attendance of big celebrities. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival began its 23rd edition in Indio, California and features the participation of several artists such as Lana del Rey, Peso Pluma, Tyler, the Creator, Blur, and others.
The festival, referred to as “Coachella Festival” or simply “Coachella was founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen in 1999. Coachella showcases popular and established musical artists as well as emerging artists. It is one of the largest, most famous, and most profitable music festivals in the world. It has annual records of up to 250,000 attendees.
History
It all started when Pearl Jam performed at the Empire Polo Club after the band refused to play in Los Ángeles due to a problem with Ticketmaster’s charge services. Originally, the Empire Polo Club was only host to international polo tournaments, however they realized that the 1000-acre (32 ha) capacity could also host concerts.
Ever since, the Empire Polo Club has leased its polo grounds annually to Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of the Anschutz Entertainment Group, the organizers of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Stagecoach Festival.
First edition was on 1999, had artists like artists like Morrisey, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Moby, and others.
