Weddings are incredible events, but weddings in India are even more amazing, with celebrations unlike any other place in the world. And of course, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s wedding was no exception. Their 3-day wedding extravaganza included two different ceremonies, reflecting their different beliefs and cultures: a Christian wedding and a traditional Indian wedding celebrated at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.
The Indian singer and actress got engaged to Nick in August, just two months after they starting dating, and since then, the eyes of the world have been following their story. A lot has been said about this dreamlike wedding, and here are the most heartwarming moments:
Both Priyanka and Nick said that the wedding was very emotional. “It was all tears. All tears. I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened and I saw his face, it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life”, Priyanka said to People.

The Christian wedding was officiated by Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., Nick’s father.

Priyanka’s wedding dress, designed by Ralph Lauren, had eight words and phrases embroidered on it, including Nick’s full name –Nicholas Jerry Jonas–, the date of their marriage (December 1, 2018), a Hindu mantra dedicated to the god Shiva reading “Om Namah Shivay,” the names of her parents –Madhu and Ashok–, and the words “Family,” “Hope,” “Love,” and “Compassion.”

The veil’s length was 75 feet, in a princess style. It is one out of only four wedding dresses ever designed by Ralph Lauren and the first one for someone not in his family. The other three were for his daughter, daughter-in-law, and niece.
It took 1,826 hours to complete the hand-beaded and hand-embroidered strapless column gown with 2,380,000 mother-of-pearl sequins.
Nick’s tuxedo, also designed by Ralph Lauren, had a personal reminder of his love for Priyanka: a piece of the gown stitched into the lapel with the Urdu words “My Jaan,” which means “my life” in English.

The traditional Indian ceremony included the Mehendi, where the Bollywood star and the musician were adorned with henna tattoos. Nick had his wife’s name written on his left palm between two “Om” symbols, while Priyanka had her hands covered in beautiful henna drawings, including a guitar, a nod to Nick’s music career.

For the Indian celebration, Priyanka and Nick wore astonishing garments designed by top designer Sabyasachi, which involved the work of 110 embroiderers in Calcutta, who spent 3,720 hours creating the dresses. For her, it was a beautiful red lehenga, while he wore a golden royal suit.

Nick was very excited about their celebration of love. “You think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional,” he said to People.

The couple also had a Sangeet, an Indian tradition held before the actual wedding to celebrate the happiness of the couple getting married, where both families performed elaborate musical numbers with choreography and costumes.

There were 225 guests, including Nick’s three brothers, along with Joe’s fiancée, Sophie Turner, celebrities like Martin Garrix , and also India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
