Pope Francis did not hold back anything to criticize couples who decide not to have children.
During his traditional General Audience at the Vatican, the Pontiff made comments that have sparked controversy on social networks. Speaking about adoption as a transcendental issue for millions of families today, Pope Francis said that there are couples who are less and less human, preferring to have dogs or cats instead of children.
They prefer dogs to children
That’s how forceful Pope Francis was when he spoke of families that do not want to have children. “What we have today is a form of selfishness. There are so many couples who do not want to have children. Now, cats and dogs occupy that place. Sometimes couples have a child and, instead, several dogs or cats that take the place of other children. It’s hilarious, but it’s reality. This denial of fatherhood and motherhood takes away humanity. Civilization grows older and without humanity. The richness of fatherhood and motherhood is lost. I ask Saint Joseph to move consciences so that couples have children. Having a child always carries a risk, but it is even more so not to have it “, said the Supreme Pontiff.
Therefore, from Pope Francis’ perspective, adoption is a great alternative. “Children are the fullness of a person’s life. Adoption is one of the greatest tokens of love there is. Hopefully, globally, institutions can always help. They must follow and monitor the adoption processes carefully, but also expedite them to fulfill the dream of thousands of people who are looking to be parents and of thousands of children who are looking for a family ”.
