Queen’s Jubilee souvenirs were printed with a very funny typo

This year will mark 70 years of Queen Elizabeth as monarch of the British Empire and as such, events to celebrate the date are already scheduled and, of course, tons of merchandise to commemorate and keep as a souvenir. Unfortunately, someone made a huge typo in a batch of cups and plates, and now, the Platinum Jubilee has become the “Platinum Jubbly”.

According to the BBC, more than 10,000 pieces of the jubilee memorabilia that were produced in China have this typo. But worry not. They will still be sold in the UK thanks to a clearance website that will offer them a discount of 90% of their original price.

Wholesale Clearance, a website that specializes in reselling bankrupt stock or discontinued lines, will have the cups and plates on sale that are already advertised as “souvenir stock with a slight typo mistake”.

In the product description, the company claims that upon arrival at Southampton docks and after an inspection, “it became apparent that there was a slight printing/translation error which now leaves these without a home”.

In each of these cups and plates, you can read the “slight” typo which says “the Platinum Jubbly of Queen Elizabeth II”. Every piece has a price of 3 pounds or 4 USD.

Of course, Wholesale Clearance is seeing this as an opportunity and is encouraging future customers to have a one-of-a-kind piece of memorabilia with an irresistible offer.

“What could be more unique than our limited-edition misprinted crockery?”, said Karl Baxter, website’s boss to the BBC.

Invoking the spirit of market traders from the TV comedy, the firm’s website promises: “Become an Only Fools and Horses fan and wow your friends with your Lovely Jubbly set!”

The Platinum Jubilee, which will be celebrated in June, is a four-day holiday that will have concerts, parties, and pageants throughout England and the Commonwealth to rejoice for the 70 years in the throne of Queen Elizabeth.
