European countries attempted to break through this barrier, but it wasn’t until 1853 that the powerful American fleet, led by Commodore Perry, managed to open up trade with Japan. This marked the beginning of the West’s fascination with Japanese culture, from its literature and art to its incredible cuisine. And that’s how sushi made its way to our plates. How lucky are we! cause personally, I love sushi.

How to Prepare Sushi Rice
Let’s start with the basics: the rice. All you need are two cups of sushi or Japanese rice and some rice vinegar. First, rinse the rice under cold water, then place it in a pot with two cups of water. Heat it on high until it starts to boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let it cook for 7-8 minutes, keeping the lid on. Afterward, lower the heat and let it simmer for another 6 minutes. Once cooked, let the rice rest for 15 minutes before adding four tablespoons of rice vinegar. Your rice is now ready!

Moisten the edge of the seaweed with vinegar, then roll the bamboo mat tightly to form a long roll. Cut the roll in half, and voilà—you’re ready to enjoy some homemade sushi!
