Health Alert At Walmart- Over 16000 Pounds of Ground Beef Recalled Due To Possible E. Coli Contamination

The Food Safety and Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture announced the recall of approximately 16,000 pounds, or about 7,200 kilograms, of ground beef due to potential E. coli contamination.

As a result, a health alert was issued for Walmart stores across the United States, as the potentially contaminated ground beef from the Cargill Meat Solutions brand was distributed in that chain, produced between April 26 and 27.

Health authorities stated that contaminated ground beef can be identified by the establishment number “EST. 86P” printed on the back of the label. The recalled products include plastic-wrapped trays of various weights with different percentages of fat and lean meat, along with sirloin beef patties.

It is recommended that those who have packages of contaminated ground beef dispose of them.

Once the health alert was issued, authorities advised anyone who purchased ground beef recently from Walmart stores to check the identification number provided as the potentially contaminated batch, and if it matches, to immediately discard the meat or return it to the point of purchase.

These are the products that were recalled from Walmart stores:

  • 2.25-pound (1.020 kg) plastic-wrapped trays containing “93% LEAN 7% FAT FULLY NATURAL LEAN GROUND BEEF” with batch code 117.
  • 1.33-pound (0.60 kg) plastic-wrapped trays containing four “PATTIES PRIME RIB BEEF STEAK BURGERS” with batch code 118.
  • 2.25-pound (1.020 kg) plastic-wrapped trays containing “85% LEAN 15% FAT ALL NATURAL ANGUS PREMIUM GROUND BEEF” with batch code 117.

  • 1.33-pound (0.60 kg) plastic-wrapped trays containing four “90% LEAN 10% FAT FULLY NATURAL GROUND BEEF SIRLOIN PATTIES” with batch code 118.

So far, no confirmed illnesses related to the consumption of any of the products have been reported. However, anyone who has consumed these products and experiences symptoms such as frequent bathroom trips, extreme fatigue, and loss of color in the cheeks and lower eyelids should immediately seek medical attention.
