As we know, the next Olympic Games edition will be held in Paris in 2024; a gorgeous city that has already hosted this same event twice in 1900 and 1924. This will make it the third time the Olympic Flame will be lit in the Parisian territory. But this time, it will allegedly be much different from the past editions, and the opening ceremony will signify a great comeback from the pandemic and all the limitations that had to be considered for Tokyo 2020.

A ceremony outside the stadium

The highlight of the event is the fact that for the first time, the Opening Ceremony will not be held at the Olympic Stadium; instead, it is planned to be a show on the water that will involve around 160 boats taking the athletes all across 6 km of the Sena River and passing through all the important monuments that surround it.

In the end, everyone will gather at the esplanade of the Trocadero, next to the Eiffel Tower, to experience the completion of the rest of the traditional protocols, the raising of the Olympic Flag and the Olympic torch lighting which symbolizes the beginning of the newest edition for the most important games in the world of sports.

Who’s invited to live this amazing experience?

The best thing will be that the ceremony will be completely open to the public. People will not only be able to see the full ceremony for free at the comfort of their homes, but also anyone who safely gets a spot on the sides of the river will have the opportunity to experience it live and without paying anything. However, securing one of the privileged spots to see the parade at the low docks between the Austerlitz bridge and the Iena bridge, will require paid tickets.

This is the first time that the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony will welcome ten times more people than the average admissions for the stadium, and even though the safety measures have not been thoroughly confirmed yet, this will definitely be a game-changer that will make this event more accessible for the public.

Streaming details

Finally, like any other edition, the ceremony will also be streamed through media; hence why about 80 giant screens with amazing sound quality will be located all across the capital as well as individual cameras are going to be included in each one of the boats so that the audience can have a closer look of the parade through their screen. All this technology will allow more than 600 thousand people to watch the ceremony in Paris, plus all the other ones that will not miss the coverage of this event on TV or social media.

Paris 2024 is more than ready to take this next huge step in Olympic history, and we are also very excited to see how this new concept turns out. We couldn’t expect less from this event that slowly but surely is recovering from the pandemic alongside the rest of the world.
