There are many interesting and somewhat frightening stories about stairs in the middle of forests. It seems like a superstition, but what would you think if forest experts, agents, and officers tell you to avoid at all costs following this kind of stairs and as soon as you see them? Run, naturally. Many facts tell you why you should run away when you see ladders in the middle of the forest.
In 2019 a Reddit user shared a peculiar story involving some stairs in the forest. It might seem like a fictional tale to gain popularity on the platform; however, the story led to many similar testimonials. Stories like this cannot be a fabrication or, at least most of them are not.
We can’t imagine the fact that ladders are in such strange places as forests, an element out of context: a ladder that leads nowhere would make no sense at all. This is where the story told by Searchandrescuewoods, a user who works for the search and rescue team for lost people in the forest, comes in.
His experience started in 2015 in a forest in the United States. During rescue missions within immense vegetation, he would frequently encounter ladders emerging from the trees. The scariest thing of all is that they led to nowhere; they were just standing there alone. His superiors told him that they were quite common and that he should just ignore them.
The most surprising thing is that these stairs seem to be torn from a house, they are always clean, have no trace of abandonment, and are free of vegetation or animal droppings. They are of different materials and shapes (stone, ancient, modern, iron, or spiral), and the creepiest thing is that there have been cases where there is a cemetery or burials nearby.
Testimonies of the mysterious stairs in the forest
One man shares that when he was working as an infectious disease expert for the U.S. government health care agency, during a six-month investigation, he saw in the area many ladders that seemed to move out of place at night, and the area where they had been was burned.
Not only in America, but a similar testimony also emerged in the Philippines. A man was fired from his job as a forest ranger for being absent for several years while conducting reconnaissance works in the forest. He says he climbed up a ladder to escape a stray dog and perceived that a few minutes had passed when he came back down: the truth is that five years had passed.
In Sweden, two young men came across a ladder and decided to climb it. One of them felt a touch on his shoulder and turned to see his companion; he was too far away to touch him. The young man described it as an icy touch.
Although it may seem like something out of a horror movie, let’s remember that these stairs exist and are among us, so if you see a staircase in the middle of the forest, run for your life! We don’t know what to expect from these mysterious cases, is there any coherent explanation? There is talk that these stairs may be the remains of buildings that have deteriorated over time, leaving only stairs in the forest as a sign of its existence; perhaps it is just a memory belonging to distant times. Who knows!
